Fall is here and it’s time to take in all the beauty and color that Mother Nature delivers at this time of year.
You can make a “gourd gorgeous” with just a few simple steps. Carve a circle at the top or a little to the side, depending on the shape of the squash or pumpkin. Carve out the inside to make room for the plants.
Pop two or three succulents with different shapes and colors in the hole or use other small plants. There will probably be enough soil on the plants without adding extra, but if needed add some soil to fill the hole. For a finishing touch, you can line the rim of the hole with sheet moss to really enhance your design. These centerpieces are great for your patio, kitchen table or even for a fall wedding reception. They are guaranteed to give you rave reviews.
It is also fun to add a flowering “mini pot” in the gourd to accent or draw attention to a particular color. This could be a mini rose, orchid or African violet in a 2” pot. For a wedding reception, why not pick the bride’s favorite color!
