Did you know that the flower of a pansy is often called a “face” as in “pansy face”. Look closely at the flowers and you’ll see why. These “faces” are currently adding color to the space by my garage. They can take the cool nights until I plant my begonias and SunPatiens in mid-May. Sunpatiens are one of my favorite annuals. They are not bothered by downy mildew, will grow in sun or shade and have big, showy flowers that bloom until frost. It doesn’t take as many plants to fill up a space because they can grow quite large. Check them out this spring.
Squirrel-Proof Bird Feeders
Have you noticed that your bird feeder needs filling more often at this time of year? Many birds have migrated back for the spring and summer and are now taking a turn at the feeders. If you’re like me, you may have a problem with squirrels robbing the feeder. I tried a new squirrel proof model by The Nuttery and it’s working quite well. These durable, colorful feeders come in a variety of shapes and sizes. Stop in and see for yourself. Remember that it’s important to feed the birds year round and not just during the winter months.
