Do you have bulbs left that you don’t have time to plant outside? Don’t throw them away! Tulip, daffodil, and hyacinths do well in pots and are easily forced inside the house. Keep them cool (40 F) for 12 to 13 weeks in the refrigerator or cool corner of the basement. Plant in 6” or 10” pot. Fill bottom with 1/3 full of potting soil. Put tulip bulbs close to edge, then fill with additional soil. Water well, drain, cover pot with foil and place in refrigerator. Check regularly and do not let dry out. After 12 weeks, bring out to warmer temperature (55 to 70), and they will begin to grow and flower in a few weeks. Makes the winter even shorter!
