This winter, I have been growing a mixed pot of herbs in my kitchen window and I love it! I mixed my favorites (basil, parsley and oregano) together in one pot. I’m also growing a separate container of chives. I love the flavor of freshly chopped chives over almost any kind of vegetable and nothing beats the flavor of fresh oregano and basil in my pasta sauce! A recipe for salad dressing using fresh herbs has become a favorite of mine.
Salad Dressing Recipe with Fresh Herbs:
- Buttermilk
- Mayonnaise
- Worcestershire sauce
- Lemon juice
- Chopped parsley and chives.
- Add crumbled bleu cheese and the salad is a hit!
Now that we’re getting closer to spring, have you thought about your spring/summer garden plans? A continued trend this season is container gardening, not only for flowers but also for edibles. Why not plant a patio tomato in a large container with leaf lettuce around the edge of the pot? Your salad is right there for the picking!
The first official day of spring is March 20!
