I just returned from a 6 day trip to Mackinac Island and Door County and have a camera full of photos that I want to organize. Wish I had seen the presentation by Robert Perry at the 2010 Garden Writers Symposium before I left! He encourages everyone to start thinking of photos as stories and poems! Stop thinking about them as “nouns” when the bus driver calls out “ten minutes at this stop!” In other words, tell a story with your photos that produces emotional responses and connects with the viewers. The photo may only tell part of the story but make us wonder about the rest we don’t know. They capture your imagination! I am trying with my album, but I will see how much of a “story” I can tell. Go to David Perry’s blog to learn more about telling an interesting and/or humorous story with your photos. Now go out and find some stories to capture in your camera!
