There are many legends about Valentine’s Day. Some believed if a lady saw a robin on that day, she would marry a sailor. If she saw a sparrow, she would marry a poor man but be very happy. If she saw a goldfinch, she would marry a millionaire! Valentine was a priest back in early centuries. He was ordered to death by King Claudius in year 270 for not following the King’s orders. He wrote a letter to the jailor’s daughter and signed it “From your Valentine”. This expression is still used today. The motive is “Don’t forget your Valentine on February 14th!!!” I bet she would love a vibrant red cyclamen or lovely roses. Hint = check it out at Wagners!
In winter, legend says there are there gardens. The first is “hidden” outdoors, the second are the pots and bowls of plants on your kitchen counter, the third is in your mind’s eye. I like the third one best! Check those seed and plant catalogs for your inspiration and plan that “third” garden! A doctor once said February is only as long as it takes to pass time until March. Now that I think about it, he is certainly correct!
